Fall 2024 Beginning Iconography Class

BEGINNING ICONOGRAPHY

No art training is required for this class.

During the 16-week iconography course, students will create their own icons using the ancient technique of painting with egg tempera. Instruction includes creating egg emulsion, mixing ground pigments into paint, painting methods, and gilding with gold leaf. All classes will be enriched with theological discussions and prayer. The instructor will provide each student with a plain gessoed board and the pigments needed for each class.
